    I too have been wondering this. If it's alright, perhaps I might call you as well, Mark. I'll be up and running in about a week; I have a nice office in a prominent, downtown building and have chosen a great business name and secured the url. Now I'm working on getting my logo and website designed, so it won't be long before I'll want to start calling on these professionals. Thank you.

    Hi Toby, I like going in to their office or bank and leaving a little information about my company including my business card. The first contact is typically the receptionist or "Gatekeeper". I find it quite invasive to ask for someone to talk with about my financing services without an appointment. As I use this none-invasive approach, occasionally the decision maker will overhear my conversation with his/ her receptionist and ask what this is regarding. I then go into an summarized pitch and often works out well since they often expand the conversation. If I don't get a face-to-face with the decision maker I make sure to ask the receptionist for his/her business card. Once in hand, I usually wait 1 - 3 days to follow up with a telephone call. Other than that, joining your local Chamber of Commerce or specialized banking or accounting business group will get you exposure where you can begin relationships and rapport building.
